Make a Difference

A message from the President

It is wonderful to be a part of a school with a strong legacy of involved and dedicated Alumni! I always find it energizing to hear your stories and memories when you stop in for a visit. I am proud of our strong history and committed to the promise we hold for the lives of future graduates.

As we begin our 69th year, St. Gregory the Great High School continues to honor and build upon the legacy of excellence that you helped to inspire. We are confident that the future of St. Gregory will be full of greatness, innovation and growth. We look to you for your continued support, prayers and encouragement.

We continue to offer a full academic, comprehensive college-preparatory program, including a range of extracurricular activities and athletic programs. The faculty and staff are committed to serving a student body that is academically, socially and culturally diverse. To honor this commitment and to continue making a difference in the lives of young people today, St. Gregory provides a stable, consistent and secure learning environment that responds to the needs of individual students.

Honors classes are offered for those who strive to challenge themselves academically, while a variety of elective classes allow students to understand different subject matter . The Learning Resource Program (LRP) is designed to give academic support and resources to students with learning difficulties. The Protégé Program offers unique internship opportunities for students to acquire hands-on experience in career fields that are of interest to them. St. Gregory strives to develop the whole person intellectually, physically, spiritually and emotionally. We move forward while honoring the proud tradition established so many years and students ago.

Thank you for the many ways you are increasingly involved in furthering our mission and values. Your successes, contributions and stories share history and roots while providing inspiration to motivate us daily.

We are excited to launch this new TimbersOnline site. We hope that around the country and the world you will take advantage of the communication opportunities it presents. So, jump in, register and get the decade forums going! The site is user friendly and provides an easy way for the diverse “family” of St. Gregory to stay in touch! I would like to extend a special thank you to Dave Burman who has designed this website with energy and passion for the Alumni of St Gregory the Great High School.

God Bless!

The Starfish Story
Once a man was walking along a beach. The sun was shining and it was a beautiful day. Off in the distance he could see a young boy going back and forth between the surf's edge and and the beach. Back and forth the boy went. As the man approached, he could see that there were hundreds of starfish stranded on the sand as the result of the natural action of the tide and that the boy was gently tossing starfish back into the ocean.

The man was stuck by the the apparent futility of the task. There were far too many starfish. Many of them were sure to perish. As he approached, the boy continued the task of picking up starfish one by one and throwing them into the surf.

As he came up to the young boy he said, "You must be crazy. There are thousands of miles of beach covered with starfish. You can't possibly make a difference." The boy looked at the man. He then stooped down and picked up one more starfish and threw it back into the ocean. He turned back to the man and said, "It sure made a difference to that one!"
